Fruit SnowCone Syrup

As we were heading out today to help at a garage sale and ENDURE the stifling heat, I was thinking....self--what can we bring to cool off?

Hmmmm....

Snowcone maker?  YES!

Snowcone syrup...ooops!  All out.  Drat! Never fear...supermom is here!  Ok. I know.  Really?  Really.

So I scoured the web for a fruit recipe.  I had blueberries and strawberries onhand.  But I didn't have lemon juice....(here comes the substitute--I known for substituting...but sometimes it doesn't taste good when I substitute)

I got the recipe from MealMakeOverMoms, however, I didn't have lemon juice, so I substituted Lime juice.

1 cup Blueberries (fresh or frozen--I used fresh)
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp lime juice

Blend in a blender.  Add to a squeeze bottle.  Pour over shaved ice.
(I forgot to take a pic during the process)

Strawberry Snow Cone Syrup
(I adapted the recipe from above and sub'd in strawberries)
2 cups strawberries (fresh or frozen--I used fresh)
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp lime juice

Blend in a blender.  Pour over shaved ice.

I will let you know what the kids think of the fruity good for you syrup.  I hope they like it.  I think it tasted YUMMY!

Homemade Butterscotch Pudding

I should have known (but I didn't) that you could make your very own homemade pudding, and today i found the recipe for Butterscotch pudding.  Yum!

I didn't realize how EASY it is to make pudding either.  It does require that you don't walk away from it, but that is it.  I think it took maybe 10 minutes..including getting out supplies and cleaning up.  (not counting the cooling time, obviously)

I found the recipe on Lynn's Kitchen Adventures.  Check her blog out.

----She has a current white chocolate trifle that looks incredibly yummy as well!

Strawberry Summer Drink Recipes

Here are two strawberry recipes for drinks:

Aldi has a great deal on strawberries currently, so hop on over and grab several packages.  Even if you don't have time to make the recipes now, you can always freeze the strawberries and enjoy the "fruits" of your labor later!

Strawberry smoothie

2 cups sliced strawberries
2 frozen bananas
1 1/2 cups milk
3 tbsp peanut butter (optional)
3 tbsp honey
8-10 ice cubes (optional if you want it colder)

Blend in a blender.  Serve.  (I thought it was pretty good with the peanut butter, but the kids weren't quite so thrilled.)

Strawberry Lemonade

I saw this yummy recipe on Grocery Cart Challenge and although I haven't tried it yet, it looks especially yummy.

Need:  Strawberries, lemon juice, sugar.....check out her recipe!

--While googling strawberries...I saw Strawberry lemonade cupcakes???  Maybe I need to make these...

eFoods Direct-Discount

I was recently contact by eFoods Direct to try out their foods and let them know what I thought.  In the meantime, (while I am waiting for the samples to arrive) I have some coupons codes that YOU can use to get their prepared meals (in case of emergencies, job loss, etc).

I will let you know what I personally think of these prepared meals once I am sent samples!  In the meantime, if you are stocking your pantry, this would be a FANTASTIC way to start stocking for emergencies!
