Easter Decor and Candy Clearance at Target
While at Target today, I was excited to see their Easter section down to 70% off!! Who doesn't love a bag of Dove Chocolate for $1.04? Mmmmmnnnn....chocolate.
Also, they still had some of the cutesie slipper socks that I love love love!
Also, the Dollar Area has their "red-dot" items for 50% off. I snagged some little notepads and pencils for THE GIRL's birthday party coming up. Check your local Target for your great deals!
Straight to Curly
I have fine, straight hair. It doesn't have much body, other than the shape of my pillow when I wake up.
So I sectioned and rolled up my hair into little buns and let it air dry after spraying it with hairspray (granted Mousse probably would have worked better for "hold", but I didn't think about it until AFTER I had rolled it all up).
Beautiful, huh? I know right, and I am seriously posting this? The things we women do for hair....
Since I knew I wouldn't be going anywhere, gotta love working from home, I knew I had the time to let these buns dry naturally.
---Except that I decided to take the dog for a quick walk since it was a beautiful day (yes I knew what I looked like when I left the house). As we were walking around one of the many neighborhood circles, an older gentleman stopped to inquire about my dog. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I probably scared him a little. Poor old guy....anyway....I digress....
Then, after about 4 hours of air drying (and they really weren't completely dry) I removed the bobby pins and clips.
BUT....
That was a little scary, so I didn't take that picture.
I fixed my hair, moved the scary parts away and VOILA:
Instant Perm-like curls!! Everyone at church loved the curls last night. What a hit!
(What a mess I have behind me! Forgive me for not having a good backdrop)
So after jumping in the shower the other day, I thought I would "curl" my hair, naturally.
Since I knew I wouldn't be going anywhere, gotta love working from home, I knew I had the time to let these buns dry naturally.

Heart Heaters
Denise, a friend from church, gave the wonderful idea for a "treat" for our upcoming Mother-Daughter brunch at church. I try to think about if the item I am going to make is going to be used, head for the trash as soon as the party is over, or if it will be a useful item. My first "idea" was a bookmark with our theme verse on it. SCRATCHED that.
The second idea was a heart fan with the verse on it. I shared that idea with others and it seemed doomed to the trash bin as well.
Then (light bulb) Denise recommended making her heat pads in the shape of a heart. (She made several round ones for Christmas gifts and I LOVE this idea).
First, I gathered my many different heart colors of fabric and cut out the size of the heart that I wanted. I stitched two hearts together (right sides facing) and left a hole at the bottom of the heart to be able to turn it right side out and stuff with my "warming material".
After I sewed the heart, I cut little triangles around my heart edges so that when I turn it right side out, it will be round. Also, cut a V at the inner point where the two rounded corners meet.
Turn the heart right side out.
(Yeah, they are kinda goofy looking at this point, I hope the "warming material" will shape them up better)
Add 3/4 cup of warming material (there are several options available, the cheapest I used was white rice)
I used a funnel to try to avoid making a mess.

Now all I need to do is sew the bottom where the point is and safety pin the verse to the heart (with instructions on how to microwave it).
Throw 'em into the microwave for 30 seconds at a time until desired heat is met and use for a coffee cup warmer, hand warmer, knee aching muscle soother (I couldn't think of a better phrase), or just to soothe any tired, weary muscles.
Thanks Denise for the wonderful idea! Now to finish sewing/stuffing the remaining (49) before next Saturday! It's a good thing Denise and I are working together on this task!

Tiered Dollar Store Trays
I LOVE finding new blogs that have ideas that I have been thinking of, but haven't actually "crafted" yet. Since our Mother-Daughter brunch is coming up on April 30th and we are in need of trays for the food table, I will be making a dash to Dollar Tree to do this project this week!
See Joy's Hope tutorial for making these nifty tiered trays!

Meal Planning
I don't know about you, but at the end of the day, my brain is half fried and I don't even want to think about coming up with an idea for dinner. I know that I am not the only one who feels this way. I stumbled onto While He Was Napping blog who gives a tutorial for her great idea for menu planning.
I had some rustedugly cookie sheets that I knew I could use for something.
Here is my "something".
I think it turned out pretty well.
The only problem I have is when I have company, certain people like to move around my food magnets. :o)

Over the river and through the woods....
Embarking on our trip to Grandma's, we usually drive through South Dakota. The first year I made the trek from the east part of South Dakota across I-90 to Rapid City I was WEARY from all of the Wall Drug signs.
Since it is a VAST flat, grassland, and there is nothing to look at, the billboards are a source of entertainment....until you continue to see signs for Wall Drug over and overand over and over.
The first year I grew tired of all of the signs and really wanted to tear my hair out by the time I reached North Dakota.
This year, it was a warm welcome.

I love my Grandma
My Grandma is in the hospital and her prognosis is not good. We do not think she will make it long. I love her so much. She is a wonderful woman and is dearly loved by her family. We will be making the long trip tomorrow and will be leaving at o'dark thirty.
If there is any goodness to come out of this, it is knowing that God is our comfort.

Slipper boots
I decided (at the very last minute) to make my wonderful friend a pair of slipper boots for her birthday from a sweater headed to Goodwill. However, I made them too small (since I didn't use a pattern and just used my memory to recall what I read from a blog).
Now The Girl will be receiving a pair of slipper boots for her birthday coming up at the end of April!

Birthday party for The Boy
For The Boy's birthday this year, I decided to stick with my idea of being frugal and using what we have around the house (or for cheap at consignment sales) for his party. I found some leftover Sports tableware
cute sports toys for goodies
and created a baseball pinata with paper mache.
Then I made (from scratch) his cakes...which I forgot until about 7 p.m. last night (oops)

Why I am Remaking It Mine...
Hello all! I am so glad you decided to come over and check me out. I am nervous, unsure, excited about whether I am the right gal for blogging, so I decided to go ahead and give it a try! I hope that my posts will inspire you, help you and maybe entertain you a little.
I have been a self admitted bloggaholic for a few months now and I really enjoy seeing what other people are creating, how they are saving and just enjoying seeing into the lives of many other people. I am glad to join their ranks.
Please bear with me as I probably, most likely will make errors at first. My goal is to post at least 3-5 times per week, so with God's help and your prayers, that could happen.
